This homepage was set up so that I'd  have a site for insights, thoughts, people met, etc during/after my 1998 AppalachianTrail hike. The hike let me meet and make many unusual friends ......also Rats, Lice, Ticks, gnats (you got to love 'em).

FOLKS I MET ON THE A.T. (Hope I didn't miss or forget too many....). The AT Society of hikers is a unique microcosm..... of what many in America would like our 'normal' society to become.

Hiking Schedule

(For new hikers, you may wish to copy this schedule and then modify as you "deem sensible for your conditioning". Remember, this was for a 65 year old "CrazeeOldMan"....dot com)

THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL (Called The Green Tunnel)

....sans the ubiquitous snow which accompanied hikers most of spring. (I swiped this photo from my pal Dragon's Breath. I like him lots better now that I'm not listening to his sonorous nighttime melodies. Many, many miles on the Trail looked like this.)

Related or just interesting sites - (2008 most are now defunct)

After getting off the trail being dehydrated from a 7 day flu, I had a "manic episode" and was tossed

in the hospital (almost a mental one...). All is well now thankfully......

One last piece of "beefcake"  if you can stand it...or what racehorse hiking and a virus can do to old guys.....(weight=145 lbs @Harper's Ferry). CHOKE! I'm now about 175! (oops! Okay, it's now 2006, married to Marie-Anne LeHardy and tipping the scale at gasp - 185! But...

Life is good!

Sept. 2000 - Read about our adventures encountered by Leroux, Doc Martindale

and I in 2000 that were essentially a virtual replica ofin Bill Bryson's in his "Walk in the Woods". It's fun!
