GREETINGS from Dave Garcia - our Sierra Club Leader-(Reproduced from Email)

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give," Winston Churchill.

What a great group of individuals! It was a joy working with you and we accomplished alot of hardwork. We removed 3 acres of iceplant and prepared the area for native species planting, we painted an estimated 500 sq ft of siding, we repaired and replaced 624 ft of boundary fencing, and pulled an estimated 5 cubic yards of iceplant at the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. I wish to thank each of you for your service and for making this trip a renowned success. I hope you will continue to participate in future activities of enhancing our public lands and environment.

On behalf of the Sierra Club and the Bureau of Land Management, I wish to thank you for answering the challenge of service and pledging a commitment to enhance public lands. Jane Goodall has stated, "the greatest danger to our future is apathy." Conscientious individuals like yourselves who seek the challenge and make the commitment to better our communities and pubic lands are truly the backbone to our democracy and the reason this nation is great. I hope to see on future trips and please give me a call if you are in the Chico area. I 'd love to take you on a tour of Sierra Nevada Brewery and buy you a beer.

PS - Please help my "Secrets of the Big Sur" service trip to continue and allow other Sierra Club members to explore this amazing area by submitting your trip evaluations. "I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy," Rabindranath Tagore.

Sincerely Dave Garcia Sierra Club Service Leader
